Big Brew, 2003

Big Brew is on Saturday, May 3, 2003 at the "Barr House Brewery", hosted by Chris P. Frey. See the map. Park on the street, not in Chris's driveway. Here's a message from Chris with some details:

Come rain or shine, we are on! However, if it is as planned (sunny), I will be reserving the garage this year for the bands to set-up in. The People with Day Jobs has 8 members, and The Riverbend Band has 4, so they will need the room. Plan accordingly.

Due to the tendonitis in my arm I will only have very limited amount of water this year, so people are advised to bring their own!

Also, if you are bringing a keg, we have the card holders to place a 4.5" x 3" place card with whatever info you would like to share with people (Brew name, style, brewers name, etc.). Tyler dropped off the 12 tap bar system the other day and it is squeaky clean, with new hoses (courtesy of Jason at Adventures in Homebrewing). Coke and Pepsi both accepted.

I op's tested the slippy slide Sunday (3 runs, each about 15'x50') and I flew so fast I about crashed into the back fence! If you are going to have young members of the family in tow (or feel young at heart yourself) - this is awesome! Bring your bathing suits! Anyone (seriously) know where I can pick up a half dozen bales of hay? I need a crash barrier at the bottom of the hill! The hot tub is filled, clean and ready ifin you need to warm up between slides! We will utilize the run-off water from the wort chillers to reduce, re-use and recycle, as well as to keep things a little warmer!

Remember, parking on the street only, and make sure your car is parked in such a fashion that it is pointing with traffic - Saline's finest have requested this. I have a few last minute items on the "needs" list, so if you haven't thought of something to bring for dinner, call me (734-260-5216). I am taking Friday off, so any emails to me should be addressed to crispy275@comcast.net after 5:00 Thursday.

Brewers start any time you like, the later the better as this will allow non-brewers who arrive around 4 to see and learn. If you want to start at 6:00am, fine, just don't wake me up! I should be up and around by 7:00ish (Mike O'Brien - this year I will make you a breakfast if you want - call me when you get a moment).

That's all I can think of - looking forward to great friends, great beer, great weather (fingers crossed on that one) great food (that's up to you, folks!), in short - a great American picnic!

PS - I scored a whole wheel of Chimay cheese from Brussels - took a month to get here, it is made by the same Trappist monks who bring you the beer!
