Bowl-A-Thon: Brewer's Can Knock Things Down, Sort Of ---------------------------------------------------- Sandy James The Grainful head Bowl-a-thon was a blast for the few Atom Mashers who showed up - Bryan, Lara, John Stewart and I. I dusted off my bowling ball but sadly had to throw away my bowling shoes. Its pretty pitiful when the rental shoes at the alley are better than your own. Mine were permanently bent in the shape of a ball where they had rested in the bag for 20 years. When I tried to straighten them out, the soles crumbled. Oh well, some things don't last forever. During its 20 year hiatus, my bowling ball seemed to forget how to go down the middle of the lane. It had also developed an aversion to pins. It did remember how to stick to my thumb and fly through the air and it had a definite preference for the left side of the lane, uh, gutter. We borrowed a couple of Grainful Heads to even out the teams. Laure and Sarah graciously offered to play on the Atom Masher team. Despite their efforts, we made a pitiful showing in the score department. I think the Grainful heads had a couple of ringers. Lara suddenly remembered how to bowl and put the rest of us to shame as I recall. We finally resorted to using fictitious names to protect our identities. Despite the bad bowling and even worse beer we had a great time. Thanks, Sarah for organizing the event. Who's up for rollerblading??
