1. Where do you live?
West Chester, PA
2. What is your "brewery"
name?
Kildare Brewery
3. Year you started brewing
1997
4. Are you BJCP certified?
Yes, Certified
5. Favorite, most knowledgeable
styles
Really depends on my mood but I really enjoy Flanders Red and other sour
Belgian ales (actually all Belgians!). Always up for a good, balanced pale ale or IPA.
6. Most Interesting Batch Made
I try to do an "experimental" porter every fall. My first
one, Kitchen Sink Porter, had molasses, lactose, and oak.
Another one had French oak soaked in bourbon for a week then added to the
secondary for a month. Way too much oak on that one!
7. Greatest Brewing Moment
Winning first place for my N. German Altbier in the 2004 Masters
Championship of Amateur Brewing (MCAB). Also, brewing 2 kegs for a
friend's party and having both kick in 2 hours due to the popularity!
8. Worst Brewing Moment
Having 2 kegs kick in 2 hours (see above) then getting a 3rd one which
ended up only having a couple pints left at the end of the night. My
whole inventory wiped out in a few hours! A bittersweet victory
indeed!
9. Words to live by
"The best beer in the world is the one in my hand" - Charlie
Papazian
10. Something "non-brewing"
I'm a big Phillies fan. My dad had a partial season ticket plan and
started taking me in the late 70's and now I've had the same plan since
1998. I went to the last game at the Vet and the first game at
Citizen's Bank Park as well as spring training in 2001.
