| Meeting Location CARBOY’s monthly meetings are currently held at the BB&Y Restaurant. BB&Y is located on the first floor of the Caswell Building at 3700 National Drive, in the Koger Center off Glenwood Avenue in West Raleigh. Owner Nick Jones allows CARBOY to meet monthly at his restaurant when we don’t have picnics or field trips scheduled. BB&Y is open for breakfast and lunch each week-day. We encourage members to visit BB&Y for a relaxed informal meal. Please let Nick now you’re from CARBOY when you visit his restaurant. |
The December meeting was the Christmas Party – December 20 – 5 pm to 10 pm - Oxford Hunt Clubhouse
Christmas
Party
The
Christmas Party was held on December 20.
Many thanks from the club to Mike Weiss for setting up the event, and to Dave Buning and Jim Brewer for their assistance. The party was a great time of camaraderie and of sampling many awesome beers.
Superbowl Party – February 1
Steve
Murphrey has once again graciously offered to host the fantastic Superbowl
Party. If you need a map, go here
Bring some homebrew, wine, or mead. Also bring a dish for everyone to
sample. It always turns out to be an awesome spread!
Here is a note from Steve about the party:
It's time to get ready for the annual CARBOY Super Bowl Party at my house, so
mark Sunday, February 1 as "reserved" on your calendars. This party is
a family affair, so spouses and children are encouraged to attend. Please arrive
any time after 4:00 PM. It will be "pot luck" style, so please bring
some kind of food that you like and want to share. There should also be some
good home brew to sample and please bring beer/wine/mead along with an idea of
the recipe in case someone wanted to make the beer. So please RSVP (swmurph@attglobal.net)
with how many people are in your party.
Driving instructions: I live in Wake County, just a couple of miles south of
Cary.
1.. Find your way to Ten Ten Road by one of the following routes:
a.. Head south on Holly Springs Road (aka Walnut Street, in Cary), and turn left
(east) onto 1010.
b.. Head south on Kildare Farm Road, and turn left (east) onto 1010.
c.. Head south on Lake Wheeler Road, and turn right (west) onto 1010.
d.. Head south on US 401 (aka Fayetteville Road), and turn right (west) onto
1010.
e.. Follow 42 West from Clayton, turn right onto Cleveland School Road (just
after you pass I40), and then turn left onto 1010 (there's a gas station and a
very old building on the corner).
2.. Turn south onto Bells Lake Road (traffic light, if you turn the wrong way
you'll be on Graham Newton Road).
3.. Go about 1 mile to Old Sturbridge Drive. My house is on the southwest corner
(the one with all the kegs of beer on the porch).

A final note is Steve always is trying to see just how many kegs will fit on the
porch, so the more, the merrier!
