Meeting Location
CARBOY’s monthly meetings are currently held at the BB&Y Restaurant. BB&Y is located on the first floor of the Caswell Building at 3700 National Drive, in the Koger Center off Glenwood Avenue in West Raleigh. July 2005 Meeting Minutes

An update was given on National Mead Day which will be August 6. Plans are to "mead in" for the event. Email Todd Wenzel if you would like more info or would like to attend.

Introductions were given with a few new faces and about 25 folks in attendance.

Mark Garwatoski has setup Montague Lake for the CARBOY Oktoberfest for September 18th. We need folks to volunteer to help with planning and executing to make this event the success it's been in the past. Please contact Gary Morgan or Seamane if you would like to help.

Bill Bailey then gave an informative talk about the mead making process which was followed by a Q&A session. Bill as well as many other people brought their meads for everyone to sample. There were 9 meads of all varieties sampled, a new club record by most accounts.

We then went into "TELL US ABOUT THIS BEER"!

Pop the Cap Update:

August 3, 2005: The North Carolina Senate has given final approval to HB392, raising the ABV cap from 6% to 15%.

HB392 is NOT law yet. It goes into law ten days after passing the senate, or sooner if Governor Mike Easley signs the bill. He can veto the bill within ten days...though that is not likely to happen.

August 13, 2005 is the official date of the lifting of the cap, unless the Governor signs it into law before then.
