When you sniff'em, and they smell cheesy instead of like hops. |

Hops will lose their AA over time, but generally speaking, if they don't smell good, they're not "good" (unless you're staling them on purpose for a style). Try to store them as cold as possible with as good a barrier to air as you can. |

FWIW: I buy hops by the pound and store them in Mason jars in the freezer. They don't seem to be less effective even after several years. But as chumley-dude sez: "Sniff 'em." If they smell like hops, use 'em. Otherwise, loose 'em. Im-a-hophead! |
