I don't know whether to be envious, or grateful.

Very clever. I hope it's submitted to one of the homebrewing magazines.

Saw that on hbd yesterday. Made me glad I keg instead of bottle!! Must get pretty boring this time of year in the great white north.

It could probably be modified to do a couple of cases of bottles without too much trouble.

My sentiments exactly.

FWIW, Brian, the "designer", kegs his beer also. He makes a lot of wine and designed this for washing his wine bottles. But it looks to me like the only effective dishwasher bottle washer I've seen.

I still don't see the point of this thing. The only time I wash bottles is when I am trying to scrub off labels. Then a good soak in bleach, ammonia, PBW, or Oxy-Clean is mandatory. This contraption won't remove labels.

When I have unlabeled bottles (wine or beer), that means they have been washed and have been filled with homebrewed beer or mead. When I finish a bottle, I rinse them out. So there is no need to wash them - all they need now is to be sanitized, and a recent thread here suggested that sanitizing may not even be necessary.

If you don't rinse your wine bottles out after drinking, and have some sort of dried up crud in the bottom, then yes, I can see the utility of this device. Personally, I think I will stick to spending the 15-30 seconds rinsing each bottle out after consumption. :)

Well, if you look at the photos, you see a wine bottle with crud in it bfore and no crud after. But I didn't say there was point to it...just a kinda creative contraption. Seems like there's as much point to this as some of the super automated brewing systems people come up with! :)

That's great if you have that kind of time, but I.. gotta go.

Guess most brewers have the "piddling gene". Anybody here built a brew system? Just look at Frank Bell's raft he sailed to a beer festival last year. Sometimes it's just for fun.

Heh, I can see my office in the picture! The building next to the Frank Loyd Wright convention center. If you know FLW, I don't need to tell you which one that is.

Is it that big white domed state-capital-shaped building just to the right of the tree? :)

I rinse my personal bottles but sometime the ones I get back that were gifts are not so clean and then you have to watch out. I hate labels..after oxyclean there seems to be a label funk on the sink.

Ah, Madison in the late summer! The Great Taste of the Midwest, along with sitting on the patio of the UW Madison Memorial Union with a beer in hand overlooking Lake Mendota (Madison's other large lake). The photo is taken from the GTMW site in Olin-Turville park and looks across Lake Monona to downtown. Right about now I'm wishing I had an Autumnal Fire from Capital Brewery.

Yea, that's the picture. And a perfectly good boat and jetski he could have used! The FLW lines are definately distinctive.

If I remember correctly the folks in the real boat had put that puppy in the water, fired it up (sounded like it had a Chevy small-block for motivation), blasted out a hundred yards or so, and stalled. We assumed it was out of gas. The dude on the Jet Ski eventually showed up and towed them to shore!
