I've convinced a friend in New York to try homebrewing, but I don't want to sell the starter kit and supplies to him if he's got a LHBS he can go to instead. He lives on Roosevelt Island and works in Manhattan.

Can anyone help with a referral?

Stop it. Get him started and sell him the kit and supplies. Introduce another unsuspecting addict to our hobby. The LHBS that he eventually discovers will benefit.
