All the hub bub over zymie versus brewtree fittings is pretty funny.

In case anyone missed this - ZYMIE is a BREWRAT!
Hence Skotrat's vitriolic abuse of brewtree.com Talk about disparaging people's business...Pot meet kettle!

This is especially pointless if you consider that the only thing you need to make a weldess bulkhead fitting is a $2 part (1/2 nptx3/8 compression coupling) and a 10 cent #10 o-ring. $2.10 total..

I will say that I appreciate Brewtree for being a low cost supplier, enabling the mechanically clueless to order weldless fittings at a more affordable cost than other suppliers.

Brewtree's false bottoms are awesome, I am glad there is a supplier out there like him. It is the only full sized folding false bottom besides sabco's which costs $20 more.

His shipping was slow, but at those prices I am not going to complain.

I try to support my LHBS when ever possible. "the almighty dollar rules, and the low guy wins the business". Is not true for me, I would rather pay more to get good, local service, for anything. How much money are we really talking about here? It's not like either Z or BT is making a living off of us. IMHO, it is not worth fighting about.

Hey Now,

Actually Tom or Scott or whomever... If you were the one being ripped off design wise I would probably stand up for you too.

Unfortunately you do not understand that. I use Zymico Stuff because it is the best going for the purpose not because Wayne is a friend.

I will always be honest and tell folks when their products do not live up to what they claim.

I believe that most everyone that knows me will say that about me. Well that and I have terrible gas...

Zymico is only sold through LHBSs and that is supporting the business. We should all be for that or one day that guy down the road will not be there for that forgotten $1 packet of yeast we need on a Sunday.

In addition, are those really Brewtree false bottoms or are they Sabco's?

The false bottom photo on Brewtree's website is snaked right off of Sabco's website...

Too funny

Hey now...

My definition of "mechanically clueless" is someone that cannot steal a design properly in the first place, yet tries to claim superiority.

If you don't care about your LHBS, or any of the sponsors of THIS website, then you're the one that has to live with that. Go ahead and consider yourself superior.

I'm not in it for the money. The retailers are the one that gain the most from my products. They have a rough enough time of it as it is. If you don't believe me, ask Adam.

I wonder how Treebrew.bomb will react when someone starts to undercut them on Ebay? Probably with the same anger and nastiness they did when I forced them to remove my trademarks from their auction headings. Probably the same babyish response I got when I legitimately ordered one of their products.

I don't slam other peoples ideas and products, not even Dan "The Plastic man" Listermann ;^)

Whirlygigs are still silly.

I am to be thinking that Tom may be missing some key points. If you pick a spot anywhere in the Northern great Plains and drop me from a helicopter anywhere from Lubbock Texas to Rugby North Dakota I will happily identify 95% of the native herbaceous vegetation for you at no charge.

On the other hand if you ask me to go to Home Depot and pick up some compression fittings for your super ultra magnifico weldless 7 tier brewing system, I will probably screw it up. Its like when Skot tries to 'splain his DNS problems to me, I get that Junior Samples Hee Haw look.

Each of us has talents. Mr. Holder gives me fool proof products that work every time.

Oh yes, I'm proud to be a brew rat.

So aleman...I am confused... on which plant ratio is best for the standard gruit mix...is it 5% spotted knapweed/2% leafy spurge, or is it 2% russian knapweed/1% leafy spurge?

P.S. Spotted knapweed honey makes excellent mead, leafy spurge honey mead sucks swampwater!

P.P.S. Is it against the rules to troll within a troll?

BBB, I wanted to provide a balanced prospective from a non-brewrat viewpoint. Mission accomplished.

I've got no problem with any of what you guys said, but I ordered his product and liked it, and yes especially his prices. I would have no problem ordering again, and recommend his products to anyone. I don't CARE if it is a ripoff of other products, its cheap!

I will be brewing this weekend while wearing my imitation Oakley sunglasses, using a brewtree false bottom, and if no one is looking I might even thread a 1/2" nipple into a 1/2" coupling and hope I don't get accused of ripping off someone else's idea. ;)

To the people who emailed me privately and think I am the guy from brewtree.bomb - get a grip!

I post to rec.crafts.brewing all the time, and recently posted to the HBD. I do, however, live on a grassy knoll.

Hardly a slam, IMHO. He is entitled to his opinion.

A patent is the way to protect a unique design, if you can manage to convince the US Patent Office that the design is really unique.

And since neither brewtree nor zymico nor Sabco has patented this stuff, anybody is free to copy any of it and sell it if they want to.

Buy from who you like, for whatever reason you choose.

Or scrounge around and make the stuff yourself if you've got the time and energy.

enough already...

It all comes down to taste...
I buy Diet Pepsi over Sams Choice diet soda 'cause it tastes better.
I buy Hellman's Mayo 'cause it taste better than Miracle Whip.
I buy the generic peanut butter 'cause it is as good as Jif
sooo the point is, does Zymies products actually taste better than Brewtree and does the cost justify it?

Actually PTA, you are the one that is wrong...

Diet Coke tastes better than Diet Pepsi, but Diet Dew tastes better than both of them.
Miracle Whip tastes better than mayo
Natural peanut butter tastes better than all of the others

Those are my opinions and they are right so YOU must be wrong :)

But seriously....

I have a Bazooka screen and Kewler Kit in one of my mash tuns, a Bazooka T and a Weld B Gone in my kettle, and a Thermothingy in that same mash tun. Take a guess where I stand. It's not always about price. I'd shop nowhere but Wally World if it was but I hate Wally World.

This guy is obviously a Brew Tree F@G!!! From looking at the other posts, his whole objective is to slam other superior products. If I had a LHBS, I would support it whole-heartedly. Here in the Charleston, SC area they have all disappeared. Probably due to the Low-Life tactics of such Left wing communist sympathizing, Bolt-on- P.O.S carrying company like Blow Tree. As it is, I have to, or choose to make most of my parts but look to Zymie’s products for guidance. I will be moving to Jacksonville, Fl shortly, and they still have one LHBS left in the city and will support them and in turn Zymie.

P.S. I bet Tom believes in same sex marriages.

I never slammed Zymico. Did I say they are expensive? Hell yes.

If you really want to support your LHBS go in throwing $20 bills around, it works out the same.

...But I won't say it anymore... You guys have convinced me. I now love Zymico! I mean, they were the first weldless fittings on the market. Well, except for those older style B3 ones, but thats not the point. The point is this:

All other companies are just cheap knockoffs and low life scum sucking left wing babyish wankers. Other companies wish they had as much class and dignity as the great Wayne Holder aka Zymie and his supporters who are the only ones to have the guts to call people 'scum sucking left wing babyish wankers' while at the same time maintaining their ultra high standards of honor and grace!

All hail Wayne and the Brewrats! Thank you all for showing me the way to more enlightened homebrewing! I will be printing out pro-zymico leaflets and dispersing them out of a banner plane post haste! Three cheers!

Wayne/Zymie is correct that homebrew shop people aren't in it for the money. Sure....maybe we like the free alcohol and all of the fine homebrew bitches, but money is an afterthought.

I would like to branch out our discussion to an area that has been overlooked and one that I think is very important.

Specifically, Wayne's nuts.

I like Wayne's locknuts better than Brewtree's cause of the funny groove that they have. It allows you to make things as tight as you want without any leakage!

BrewTree's nuts are a cheaper material and therefore cheaper price wise...

That way CHEAP people (e.g.: Tom) will buy them... and then when they break in 5 months will buy them again.

Cheap ripoff products are why we buy from china, pakistan, etc and have lost most production of durable goods in the us. Continue to assist the downward spiral.

You want fries with that?

The next time someone says homebrewers are geeks, and you get defensive, remember the Great Weldless Fittings War of 2004.

Now I'm off in search of some of those fine homebrew bitches Adam W. was talking about . . . .

And are you saying that BWTW didn't actually die of brain cancer?!?

Kitten juggling really is fun to watch. 6-7 weeks old is old enough that they can take some abuse but really can't scratch and claw enough to get away.

When are you all going to realize that Aluminum pots are the future of homebrewing? Skotrat's hording of cornies is driving the price of stainless steel through the roof. What he doesn't have in his barn is being melted down to build ships for the Chinese navy. Yes, homebrewing and WWIII are closely related. Do weldless fittings seem so important now?
