That is a damn good price for vanilla beans - I think I paid $7 for the last bean I bought. |

$7 for 1 bean?!? Better be a big bean, eh! Why not just use really good vanilla extract, which is made from really good vanilla beans... |

Because it is cool to look at my 2.5 gallon glass carboy with a couple of cinnamon sticks and vanilla beans floting around in some mead. Looks nice in the the dining room, with that squiggly airlock. |

BTW, if anybody's gonna use the version of the recipe he's posted, it's wrong...should be 1.25 lb. of chocolate, not .5. LIfe begins at 60...1.060, that is.

Actually, when he started selling the beans, the recipe was there but uncredited. After several people emailed him about it, he sent me a nice email apologizing and credited me with the recipe....some would say, blaming me for the recipe!  LIfe begins at 60...1.060, that is.

Denny - Do you also add your beans to the secondary "fomenter" as the seller suggests? I think many people are mistakenly adding them to their secondary fermenters. |
