Anybody else been catching this new program on INHD1? The first one I saw they were in Denver and seemed like they didn't know squat about beer. I caught another one this weekend where they were in Chicago and Randy Mosher took them around to various places. One of the hosts actually made an intelligent comment about a wit beer at one point.

They visited the Map Room and also the Rock Bottom where they were having a Brewers Guild and beer club tasting meeting. No Goose Island for some reason. Visited a pizza/brewpub where they actually did all the work on the mash. Except I didn't see them shoveling out the spent grain.

They ended up proclaiming Randy Chicago's bigggest Beer Nut even though they gave the manager at Harry Carrie's a more kegs rating. Guess that's like at a competition where the highest scoring beer doesn't come in first.

What is INHD1?
Give a man a beer and he'll waste and hour. Teach a man to brew and he'll waste a lifetime.

I believe that the "pizza/brewpub" featured was Piece which is co-owned by Rick Nielson of Cheap Trick. Their Brewer, Jonathan Cutler recently won the 2006 WBC Champion Small Brewpub & Brewmaster of the year award. They brew-up some fine hand-crafted ales and among my favorites is the Golden Arm Kölsch.

There's also In Hi Def 2. Like 2 networks that only do High Defination shows. Sometimes they'll run IMAX specials all day.

There's another show that falls under their Mojo heading called 3 Sheets. The first one of those I saw they were in Belgium and visited the Delerium Tremons bar. This weekend he was in Mexico and sampling tequilla and visiting the aguave fields. Actually harvesting some aguave by hand. And after some sampling he was, well, 3 sheets. They were sampling some interesting looking tequillas though.

BT, I think that was the one. I remember them sampling kolsch after the mash in. And they visited the Siebel Institute but didn't really show much there. Think I might start DVR'ing the two shows as they seem to come on at weird times.

I found a link to the show

I've seen it. I was hoping it would turn out to be a show that I'd want to watch. I set my DVR to record it, but ended up killing it after their Sam Adams episode. I was sorely disappointed in their interview skills, their lack of charisma and their general lack of knowledge about beer.

I mean seriously, I've seen other people interview Jim Koch (John Ratzenberger on Made in America for one) and that guy lights up around a camera. He is very animated when it comes to speaking about beer. You can tell he loves to talk about the subject -- that he's passionate about beer.

I felt like I was watching Ben Stien in Ferris Bueller's Day Off when these guys got ahold of him. They just couldn't engage him and he looks like he is an easy person to interview.

They do seem to be getting a little more knowledgable about beer as the series goes on. I've got the DVR set for tomorrow night cause they did go to Goose Island but I must have missed that part on Sunday.

Seems like any of us here could do a lot better job as hosts. How did they get a show knowing so little about beer?

" How did they get a show knowing so little about beer?"

Probably because the producers don't know much about beer.

I saw the Milwaukee show tonight- definitely record this one if you can. They had homebrewers! There were 3 guys from the Milwaukee Beer Barons. They showed a couple of the guys systems, one home bar, and one of the homebrewers gave a brief extract brewing tutorial. They gave the guy a 4.5, and commented about how good the homebrew was.

Weird. I recorded the one last night and it was the Chicago show, not Milwaukee. Was it on at 9?

I'm waiting for host Eric to learn to open the tap all the way when pouring a beer. One of these episodes he may remember without being reminded. That beer keg rating system is cheesy and seemingly quite arbitrary. I do enjoy seeing the places they visit and listening to people other than the hosts speak.

My old 36" tube died two weeks ago, and I pouted until the alewife let me buy a 50" Philps plasma. Suddenly, my TV upgrade came with this INHD channel. I LOVE this channel. It's totally a guy channel, with shows like Beer Nutz, Wine Trails, HD Concerts (Lynard Skynard, Rush, Dido, etc), and the cool nature shows that look so good in HD.

Regarding the show Beer Nutz, everything you guys have said is true. It could certainly be more in-depth, more informative about individual breweries, and the hosts could certainly be a little funnier/drunker at times. But I understand their dilemma: they're tasked with showcasing three or four bars in very culture-rich cities like Chicago, and they have to do it in 23 minutes.

There are times when I wish that they would focus more on breweries, but it's hard to talk about Chicago beer culture without talking about the numerous offerings of the Map Room. It's also hard to talk about Milwakee or St. Louis and somehow glaze over the fact that disgusting macro's are centered there.

They could put a show on about pigs eating spent grains and I would watch it if it were in High Def.

P.S. The Beer Baron's collectiong of taps was mighty impressive.
