I am looking for suggestions on an 11 gallon american brown ale recipe to use up as much of my inventory as possible. It does not need to fit perfectly into style parameters. heck it dosent even need to be close. if possible I would like to avoid a trip to the brew store. Here is what I have on hand . Belgian aromatic 3/4# Belgian Biscuit 10 oz US Roast Barley 12 oz crystal 15L 1# Crystal 40 L 1/2# Us Victory 1/2# Munich 1/2# english brown 1/2# US Chocolate 6 oz Marris otter 24# Magnum hops Cascade hops Sazz hops wyeast 1056 My thought is to thrown in all of the specialty malts except the Aromatic and add enough marris otter to hit about 1.060. Use the magnum for bittering about 25-30 ibu and flavor with cascade. Any thought or suggestions appreciated. |

I was going to say leave out the chocolate and cut the roasted barley in half... I'd leave the aromatic in too. Looks good. |

I say: use it all! Except the roast barley and saaz as you noted. It will be quite good if not excellent. |

How many ounces of flavor hops do you plan to use? I might go 3 oz? |

Thanks for the input ! I will toss in the aromatic too, I thought that 12 oz of Aromatic might be a little heavy handed but what the heck. My Annual clean out the cabinet beer is usually one of the best I make. Goethean -I think 3 oz is a good bet,, At least 2 oz flavor and 1- 2 at flameout for aroma. I have a freezer full of homegrown casdcade that I need to use . Time to make a starter to wake up that 1056. |
