My brew club (located in southwest Idaho) wants to brew an all-Idaho beer. We can get hops from the local growers. I am trying to locate some Cargill IdaPils (50 to 100 lbs.) for this project. Does anyone have a retail source for this grain? Maybe the entire crop goes to commercial brewers? Google didn't turn up a retail source for me. Thanks. If all else fails, contact Cargill directly. Emphasize the desire to promote Idaho ingredients and that you will publicize the beer and mention their name. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they donated a sack. |

(Semi-thread jack) I've used Weyermann pils a good bit and like it a lot, but recently I found a local brewery that uses the IdaPils. They also sell to homebrewers, and I was thinking of giving it a try. How does this malt compare to the German pils on the market? (Semi-thread jack\) |

IdaPils is the bomb! It's very comparable German pilsner malts. As for a retail source I don't know as I used to get mine from a brewer at a local brewpub. |

Another good idea, Paul. I will try a couple of brewers at the local brewpubs if Cargill doesn't come through with some grain. None of us knows more than all of us. - Bill Herzog
