heya Jim...quite a few of the "Rats" have the egg and are really pleased with them. There are a ton of web pages dedicated to them as well. I personally can't get past the cost but continually peruse the different web pages, maybe one in my distant future |

I've had three eggs over the years(one med and two large). They tend to crack and the inner fire box (even the upgraded model) cracks as well. The insulation on the lip where the two pieces meet peels off, but doesn't really cause a problem. They do a good job on whole chickens and turkeys and are economical on charcoal. Like BBB, I'd probably buy another one, but the prices have gone up to much..... I would advise you to buy the large model. The really big one I've never used~ There's also a "grill dome" I think from india, may be inferior to the egg but cheaper. You might look on craigslist.org for your area.
