Are you participating? Are you going to brew one of the suggested recipes, or something different? I'm going to Randy Mosher's (author of Radical Brewing and Tasting Beer) Big Brew event again this year. Not sure what I'm going to brew yet. |

There are no Big Brew events in my immediate area, although I know of three within a 60-90 minute drive (two in Canada and one in the Buffalo/Niagara Falls, NY area). Unfortunately I'm currently working Saturday morning and early afternoon, so I wouldn't be able to attend even if I had the time. |

I have an offer to go to one about an hour and a half north of me up in the mountains, but I have 20 gallons lagering at this time and I am not sure I have the room for another batch at this time. I suppose I could rack one of them into kegs Thursday night...we'll see. |

I'll be brewing the Saison along with some other members of the local homebrew club. We will be brewing in the parking lot of the Santa Cruz Mtn. Brewing company. mark www.backyardbrewer.blogspot.com |

I thought we were having it at Brew Depot? Don't think I'm going to make it no mater where it is. Anniversery weekend and lots of other things going on. |

A buddy of mine is hosting a Big Brew, but I'm afraid the term may be misused a bit. We would be lucky to get 7 people brewing. I can't brew on the second, but will be able to make it to part of the session. |

That reminds me of a best man speech I heard at a wedding. He said it was all about honor. "Get honor (on her), and stay honor (on her)" |

I might do a batch tomorrow night. Other than that, no Big Brew for me. |

As we've done for several years now, many of our club members are headed down to the campground on the Nolichucky river for a 3 day campout that includes a homebrew competition on Friday and Brewing and a group bbq dinner on Saturday. We'll brew somewhere around 175-200 gallons, all in 5 and 10 gallon batches. I'm brewing My Lefty Blonde ... my first attempt at cloning this brew. Bob, if you want to head north about 4 hours you are most welcome to join us. Talk to Vance about it ... he came up to our August campout (no brewing) at the same place two years ago. |

Our Club members are doing the FWH experiment brews discussed in earlier threads. Should be around 10 split batches being brewed in total (brewed mine last week). Blind tastings in 1-2 months. |

A guy in our club is hosting and has offered to help anyone new to all grain brew five gallons. They are hoping to get three new guys going at the same time. I plan to stop by at least for the 1 pm toast. |

Well, I now have all day Friday off instead of just Friday afternoons. Might just have to head out early Friday AM and get there around noon instead of about dark. 2 years vintages of ABC now But don't think either of them is as good as yours was. |

Whew! What a time we had. There were about 16 people on Thursday night, 25 on Friday, and 40 on Saturday. There was a bit of rain Friday & Saturday mornings, and then most of Sunday, but it didn't dampen anyone's spirits. It wouldn't be Big Brew without some rain. At least it was in the 60s and 70s, and partly sunny in the afternoons/evenings. I don't yet know the total gallonage, but we were a bit short of last years totals. A few who brewed last year had work commitments and couldn't make it. We now have about 5 different ABCs made by club members, so we should be able to do a nice tasting session, Vance! |
