scott, I have a firkin I'd be into selling, if you were interested in going with the real thing. My pin is alot better for my home setup, so, I'd like to get another.. Nothing like real ale at home. I just vented a apa yesterday that is just insane right now! Jim Providence |

Jim, What do you want for the firkin ? I have one but possibly would be interested in a second. As far as the "Real Thing" Golden Gates and firkins are about the same difference to me. other than the fittings needed the kegs and setup are about the same. |

Atlas Dowel of Harrison, OH at least used to make the nation's Hoff-Stevens bungs. I suspect that they still do. I don't know if they are different from Golden Gate. If they are, I would be surprised to hear that Atlas did not make them. If you want the "real thing" I would call them. Hell I drive by there all the time and maybe could pick them up. |

Skot, I don't know. Honestly, I'd love to find someone with a pin that would want to trade. I'm not gonna give it away. They go for $185 from Ukbrewing.com when he has them.. |

Skot - I suspect Jim is referring to pins in the sense of cask size, i.e. pins, firkins, etc. |

yep, paul is right. I have two different size english casks. One is a 10.8USgal firkin. the other is a 5.4USgal Pin. I love the pin because I can fill it, then the rest goes into a corny. It seems like te Firkin is always short, and, I end up topping off with whatever else I have on tap. Plus, the larger cask is just too big. Even with a breather, the beer starts to go off before the cask is empty. |
