I spent the night camping with the youngest son and the grandson Then we went up the Air Force Museum near Dayton. Great fun and recently nicely expanded ( they removed the XB-70 ). I have to say that the greatest joy I found was that I could read the displays without glasses.

I am not going to bring up the pigeon display.

I would like to highly recommend a stop by there anytime anyone is near Dayton. It is free! I could spend a week there. Keeping the interest of 4.5 year old kept us moving.

Mike, now that you mention pigeons, I am afraid that my first "pair" has turned up lesbian. They are BOTH producing eggs, infertile I presume, over the edge of their perches on to the floor. . .

I have a second pair!

Not that I expect anyone here to give a pile of fecal matter, I , today, have a pair of birds with two eggs! In about 18 days, there should be hatchlings! After 28 days, they should be weaned and have a pair of egg siblings underway.

There is another pair that give every indication of being ready to produce another pair of eggs! Hopefully I will soon be in a position to complain that I have too many birds.

It occurs to me that the use of the term "fecal matter" might be offensive to some here. Perhaps, in this context, the word "guano" might be more accurate as well as tasteful. I apologize in advance for any confusion. Please let me know if I need to resort to "poo poo" for the hypersensitive.

I hope that's not your best shot at being offensive.

Dan,

You just reminded me of Mike Rowe from "Dirty Jobs."

He gets alot of mileage out of the word "poo."
Give a man a beer and he'll waste an hour. Teach a man to brew and he'll waste a lifetime.

I find myself enjoying "Dirty Jobs." The alligator farm and the Los Vegas pig farm were great. It was the attitude of the farm's owners that made those shows memorable.

Today I found another egg in another nest box! I should get a fourth the day after tomorrow. I am happy!

I always understood that "guano" was the term used for 'poo' from bats. I'd bet you'd get a lot of 'fecal matter' from the bat forums if they found you using it for Pigeons. BTW, Webster's 9th Edition backs me on this, unless your birds can be called seafowl. :-)

All right, poo it is!

Check out http://www.batguano.com/bgma/intro.html

Today tragedy struck. I found a fourth egg in a nest. This means the pair is lesbian - my second pair. . . So far 5 of my 7 birds are hens. The other 2 remain to be sexed. My only hope is the two borrowed cocks, only one of which has mated with one of my "girls."
