I just picked up a bottle of Alesmith Speedway Stout. $12.50 for 750ml. This stuff better be good for that kind of price.
Anybody had previous batches? Worth it?
Alesmith is rapidly becoming my favorite craft brewery.
Sorry... didn't mean to sound like a commercial. We just started getting it in Arizona. Yum.

I had a bottle of the 2002 Speedway Stout and it still stands as one of the most outstanding beers I've encountered in all my years as a beer geek.
Easily one of the best of the style.
Anything Alesmith brews is fantastic. I just wish I could get their beers here in Missouri. |

I can't get this in UK but am intrigued. What style of stout is it? What makes it so good? |

Speedway Stout is a huge imperial stout (12 percent ABV) and a limited edition brew from AleSmith Brewing of San Diego. I have never seen their beers outside of California, however. |

One more thing worth knowing about Alesmith is that all their bottled beers are bottle-conditioned, not force carbonated. |

Alesmith could possibly be my favorite brewery, and I live in Portland, OR where we are almost saturated with awesome beer. Everytime I go to San Diego, Alesmith is the first stop I make. It is too bad that Skip left though. I had a pleasant afternoon a couple years ago chatting with him and Chris White while we sampled some of Skip's finest brews. While all their beers are excellent, the Horny Devil, Grand Cru, Weizenbock, and the rest of their high gravity beers are to die for. Long live Alesmith! |
