How are store bought beers carbonated?

Depends....
Some bottle conditioned.
Some get natural carbonation in the tank
Others are force carbed.

Clear as mud??

well... Do they just bottle and cap it after it's been carbed elswhere, and it keeps it's carbonation? Or do they over carbonate it b4 its bottled so that it settles to the desired carb level in the bottle?

If it's carbed before it is bottled the bottles would be filled with counter pressure. They take the normally carbed beer and push it into bottles that are under the same pressure as the beer, then the bottles are quickly capped. This keeps the beer from foaming too much and also keeps the co2 where they want it...in the beer.
