Two kits I purchased, a Mexican Beer and an Austrailian Lauger show pictures of a light golden color beer on the can but I was unable to brew anything other than an amber color with both kits even though I used the lightest malt extract I could find. I was told I would have to brew with all grains if I wanted to achive a lighter color beer. Is this true? I'm not sure I'm ready to make that leap yet.

No. I just brewed two Mexican Lagers from all extract, and they were both very light. I used DME and Rice solids. Maybe that will help???
