SB 444 passed the OR House today. All that's left is for the governor to sign it and OR will have the best homebrew law in the US! One House member read a poem about homebrew that he'd written. Another broke the law (that was) and brought a bottle of homebrew to toast. Gotta love OR! (Message edited by denny on March 16, 2011) |

Congratulations, Denny, and others in the Beaver State. Yes, Oregon is in a different universe than Alabama and Mississippi, the only two states that have yet to legally recognize homebrewing. Perhaps Alabama will come around this year, but they say it's a tough sell there. As for the Magnolia State, sadly, it's too often dead last among the 50. |

Congrats, Denny et al. Hard to believe that a state with such a vibrant brewing scene is just breaking through with this legislation, but it sure is reason enough to do some toasting! |

Brad, it isn't really breaking through with this legislation. Home brewing was not illegal. Oregon had a thriving homebrewing community and everything was A-OK until someone decided to re interpret the law and decide that taking homebrew outside of one's own house was breaking the law. Now that this will be straightened out, it will be back to the usual. Cheers. |

As a follow up, I saw where Denny posted on another forum that the governor signed the legislation. I think Denny had a big part of this, so make sure you congratulate him! Sorry after seeing the other post here I realize Denny is in the pic (wasn"t in the other forum's pic) Congrats again Denny!
