George was a very gratious person when it came to sharing his experiences in brewing. He was a member of a hb club I belonged to in Arlington Texas. I was having a club function at my house and decided to ask George to come. Of all the years I belonged to the club (I think two at that point) I had never met him. I was surprised when he and Laurie rang the doorbell. I was brewing on the back patio and I remember him looking at my sparge and saying "what ratio of water do you sparge with?". He had a look on his face as if I should'nt be using as much water as I was. He told me what ratio he usually uses and gave me some other tips. Before he left he asked me if I'd like to come over while he's brewing the next time he brewed. Of course I came over and did so several times afterwards all the tme asking what I'm sure he thought were pretty stupid question, but he never treated them as such. He would always give great explanations, and I always "tried" to follow. He was always very candid with me and I'll be forever grateful for meeting him.
