I use a lot of clear bottles for bottling and noticed a very light tan build up. I am soaking them in bleach water at the moment. I am wondering if anyone else has noticed this themselves. Since most use amber bottles, this might go unnoticed, it could cause contamination problems if not removed. Any comments? Dan --This space is again being left intentionally blank.-

It takes a pretty thick layer of beerstone to harbor nasties, but a soak in CLR should remove it without a lot of problems. |

Oh, yeah - I was just rinsing with water and dishwasher sanitizing for a few years before the beerstone film started peeling off in spots. That was a horror shock! I didn't try CLR, but lots of things didn't work. I now use "pink stuff" aka Diversol in hot water. |

Anything that can peel off in sheets can hid a lot of bugs. Dan --This space is again being left intentionally blank.-

Possibly, but considering the stone is either seeing alcohol or hot water, it's 'probably' not going to be an issue. CLR, lime-away, etc... My treatment is to recycle the older bottle and start with a freshie... |
