Craft beer will soon hit the big screen. A one night-only event, Anat Baron’s Beer Wars will play in theaters nationwide on the night of April 16th. Ben Stein, who may be best known for Win Ben Stein’s Money, will host a live screening that same night with a beer discussion featuring industry folks taking place as well. The documentary stars (who else but) Sam Calagione of Dogfish Head and Rhonda Kallman, Co-founder of Boston Beer Company, and Founder of New Century Brewing. Others like Michael Jackson, Todd Alstrom, Jim Koch, and Greg Koch also see some airtime as the movie was set at a Las Vegas beer convention a few years ago. The website just officially launched this morning and there is a wealth of information there including the list of beer folks interviewed. The website also boasts an impressive list of links. My personal thoughts? Many of us will want to go see it to see craft beer on the big screen though it will benefit craft beer the most for our non-beer drinking friends and the mainstream to go see this flick. It will be interesting if, Baron, former General Manager for Mike’s Hard Lemonade, gets exposure through the mainstream press at all for this movie. Regardless, it will be upR to us to help it make waves online. There are no posts on Beer Advocate or RateBeer yet. Let’s start them. Tweet this -> (http://tinyurl.com/ahx7m4). Facebook and MySpace links can also be found on the Beer Wars site. You can buy tickets and find out where its playing near you... A few of us in the Tampa area are going to make a day of it with brewing and drinking this day. http://www.fathomevents.com/OriginalPrograms/BeerWarsLIVE.aspx?utm_source=BeerWa rsMovie&utm_medium=Link_BWM&utm_campaign=BeerWarsLive |

Okay. It's up on my facebook page. The only showing in southern CT is right here in my town. I'm hoping I'll be able to gather a quorum for the screening. |
