I dabbled in making labels about 5 or 6 years ago and bought a rinky-dink label making software package for about $20.00. Made a couple labels and was moderately happy with the results.

I am going to my 25th High School reunion next Summer, and will be bringing some beers to share. I want to get a decent quality label making software program that is not too steep with the learning curve, and can do some nifty stuff with photos and clip-art.

Any suggestions? post some examples?

I've used Microsoft Publisher to make mine. Already on my computer and pretty easy to use for the Microsoft crowd.

You can pick from a number of different Avery label sizes or create your own size and print on paper. I quit using the Avery labels and just print, then "glue" on with milk if they are not going in an ice cooler (they'll come off quickly in water), or just cover in carefully placed packing tape if they are. Here's an example of one.

I don't have Microsoft Publisher installed on my computer.

I use Adobe Illustrator, works like a charm. I buy sheets of removable lables from worldlabel.com, and print them out on my colour laser. It took a little while to make a template in Illustrator, but now I just cut-and-paste premade labels into the template, and print away.
