Went to the newly opened Pony Bar (http://www.theponybar.com/) in NYC yesterday. It was 75 degrees outside and I was thirsty. Having never tried a cask ale, I asked the bartender to pull me an Autumn Harvest Wheat. I took a long sip and totally forgot that these ales are served at warmer temps. It took all my concentration not to litter the bar with beer. It was the deepest pint ever. |

When I think of the Pony Bar, I think of the bar in Pony, Montana (of course):

In New York City, a deep pint, at least from a financial standpoint, is a good thing. I don't know of a more expensive place to drink (or to do practically ANYTHING) in the U.S., and I get around. The "I (heart) New York" crowd is, in my estimation, seriously deluded, if not deranged. To each his own, I guess. |

Vegas beats NYC pint price wise. Also some places in San Fran and LA... As a homebrewer I think that it hurts that much more paying $9 for a pint that you know was brewed and delivered to you for less than $1 in brewing taxing and service costs |

We'll have to agree to disagree on that, Graham. I lived in Manhattan for years. My sister has been there for decades and is raising her kids there. It is loud, dirty, crowded, corrupt, infuriating, and, yes, very expensive. And there is absolutely nowhere else on Earth I'd rather be. Coming up out of Penn Station into the crowd around MSG is one of the best feelings I know. When my kids are grown and I retire, I'm moving back. |

I totally agree with Paul on this No Matter where I live... Manhattan is home and I miss it every day that I am not there. |

I paid $10.38 (yes, .38) for a pint of Sam Adams at LGA last night....actually, several pints....there are never any on-time flights out of LGA. (At least by Use-less Airways, but at least my flight back last night did not overshoot the destination by 150 miles). Bier, will have to ck out the NYC "pony." I stay in mid-town when I go up (which is very often). Nothing like a city, where there is a good corner place on, well, every corner. Cheers.

> Bier, will have to ck out the NYC "pony." Why? You know you'd rather be at Jimmy's #43 or maybe the Blind Tiger. Neither are in mid-town, but they are well worth the trip downtown. In a city with hundreds of great bars, Jimmy's is my favorite. |
