Does anyone know the source of the White Labs WLP037 Yorkshire Ale yeast?

It is called the Yorkshire Square Yeast on the web site. Said to be highly flocculent. My SWAG is Samuel Smiths, which has the stone squares and the beer was recirculated to keep the yeast in suspension.

What is SWAG? My hope is it is Samuel Smith's, but I believe I read somewhere that Wyeast's version of Yorkshire square yeast was from another brewery in Yorkshire.

I used to brew with Samuel Smith's that I got from the Yeast Culture Kit Company. That was some excellent yeast.

Scientific wild ass guess. As opposed to a WAG.

No clue on the yeast.

The Wyeast 1469 West Yorkshire was said to be from Keighley, the home of Timothy Taylor brewing.

I've never used the Samuel Smith's yeast (I agree that it is likely the origin of White Labs WLP037), but I can say that Wyeast 1469 (the Timothy Taylor strain) is a wonderful yeast for British ales. Highly recommended.

I second that Bill. One of the best along with wyeast 1028.
