Yeast cultures that is. A fellow brewer here at work has been culturing and using slants for a while and has me interested. I've read some good info from him and I like the idea of buying a strain of yeast one last time and then I'm done buying that strain probably forever. For those of you who use slants for whatever reason, brewing or not, do you know of a good source for test tubes with screw caps? I see B3 has them for $.95 each, but they don't have a bulk buy or starter kit that I can find. I heard Brewtek/Brewers Resource had a starter kit, but their site is unavailable. Are they out of business? I intend to check the local hobby shops, but they all seem to be phasing out their interest in lab equipment. The last 1000ml flask I bought had a nice layer of dust on it. Any other sources out there? |

http://thegrape.net They sell pre-filled slants and plates and send with an ice pack. http://www.thegrape.net/browse.cfm/2,1330.html As an aside (and shameless plug), check out the YeastRancher. It'll allow you to track your strains and cultures and will send an email reminder when some culture requires attention. Yes, I'm a beer geek. Scott http://texanbrew.com |
