"It doesn't get any simpler!!" Well, yes it does... http://hbd.org/cascade/dennybrew/dennybrew.html Nice job, BBB! If I would have thought about a heat shield when I tried to build a wooden stand, it wouldn't have ended up as kindling! ;) |

Nice job Denny, if that cooler was round and sitting on the old picnic table in my back yard I would have sworn you took pictures of me during my last brew session. |

Chuck if it can, I want to know about it! My goal is the best beer possible, the easiest way possible, while having the most fun possible! It's the combination of all 3 of those that make it worthwhile for me. |

Does that mean your not going to try putting your "spheres" in the kettles? |

Cool. I noticed your mash tun manifold doesn't have all the pipes running longitudinally with respect to the drain like most designs I've seen. Your efficiency appears to be quite good, but in HowToBrew I read that you want the straight line distance to the drain to be as short as possible (i.e. pipes longitudinal to the drain). Did you try it both ways and find your current design more efficient? |

Chuck, there's no way! Guy, because I batch sparge, that kind of setup isn't necessary. John's advice is excellent if you're brewing using fly sparging, but that's something I'll never do again. |

Denny, Thanks for the reply about your system. I should have specified that my question was in regards to BBB's system, which is designed for fly sparging according to his site. |

Guy: Denny has brewery envy, that's why he answers everyones questions thinking they are for him. (Just kidding Denny, great site too, mine's bigger than yours) I fly sparge, unlike Denny, and if it aint broke don't fix it. I didn't try any other manifolds. I also read the article on drainage and don't believe it to be of importance with such a small system. The writer of that book took alot of info from other books and some pertains to large scale breweries where small percentage differences can mean lost money. My whole system is based on "low budget" all of my pipe was scrounged pieces so they went together with as little waste as possible. Thanks for the great comments folks |

Brewed up a 12.2% Belgium once with my old Gott and gravity system.... Awesome Brew!! Infact.. all my beer was awesome with my old system! Building the Lama just made it more.. ahh... easier n automated.... plus i also moved up to bigger batches..;> Sucking down a Denny IPA as we speak..;> Walt ---- |

BBB, it has a lot more to do with boredom than brewey envy! I really like your wooden stand...fits perfectly with my "cheap, easy, and funky" theory. If I wasn't so lazy, I _might_ do something similar...but I am, so I won't! ;) |

Understood....had I not finished it in a weekend the stand would still be in pieces. I have a lot of fun with this rig but I admitedly suffer brew rig envy. I want to build a HERMS. I love the CHEM brewery, one tier one pump. Dreams. |

BBB, If I might make a suggestion for your web pages, you might want to put links to your various pages on each page. It would make it easier to navigate, not having to return to HOME to go to the next page. Kent |
