OK I probably could find this out on my own by searching the archives, but I'm lazy. I was wondering after I saw a thread mentioning that CaraPils had to be mashed if the same applied to CaraMunich? I was under the impression that any grain that had "Crystal" or "Cara(mel)" in its name did not need to be mashed as the starches were already converted or whatever. (I'm gonna get Palmers book soon.) TIA Jeremy |

> "Crystal" or "Cara(mel)" (Cara)mel vs crystal is just a UK/NA naming convention. Same stuff. the 'cara' in caramel malt has no relationship to the 'cara' in carapils. |

Directly asked...Does CaraMunich need to be mashed? |

OK thank you Denny, it must be another reason my Strong Irish Ale is a bit cloudy. |

There should be nothing in CaraMunich malt that would contribute to haze. My guess, Jeremy, is that if you are patient your beer will clear. |
