BYO has kindly allowed me to post a version of the batch sparge article that will be in the Jan. issue. Check out www.hbd.org/cascade/dennybrew for methods and equipment. Comments encouraged!

Are the bung and valve you use on your mashtun something that should be available at my lhbs, or somewhere on the web? Also, are you using a .5" supply line braid or .75"? I have an old 48qt cooler just screaming for a purpose.

Yeah, I got both the bung and valve at the LHBS. I don't recall the braid diameter...I'm not sure I even ever checked! I just grabbed one that looked good!

I found all the parts, and have converted my obsolete ice chest into my new mash tun, for only 12 bucks! Now, can you point me to a good and relatively simple, 5 gallon ale recipe that has a pre-boil volume of no more than 6 or 7 gallons? I am anxious to try out my new rig.
