....in my fridge over the weekend. I'd say they are about 2 years old, possibly more. they are in unopened nitrogen pouches (or whatever those silvery pouches are). are they still good?

I'd bet they're OK. How cold is your fridge? Promash has a calcualtor that you can enter temp and time into to find IBU loss.

sometimes water will freeze in the fridge if it's at the bottom (which is where the hops were).

it was quite a find! 2 packages of columbus (which is what i wanted to make a DC Rye.P.A.!!!!)

Hops kept in a Mylar package (the silvery pouches) and in the 'frig will lose about 10% per year. The exact loss varies with type, but this is a good rule of thumb. So if your Columbus was 15% AA new, it is 13.5% AA now. All this technical foo-fa-rah aside, do like Denny sezs: DO IT.

If they smell of a finely aged cheddar, I don't think I would use them . . .
