Has anyone tried vanilla bean(s) in oatmeal stout? I am considering the BVIP, but I love oatmeal stout and was thinking a light touch of vanilla would be good in an oatmeal stout. I thought an oatmeal stout may need a little less vanilla than the BVIP. Anyone done this and want to share their results / opinions. I have a good oatmeal stout recipe I can add to, but if anyone has a really good one they will share I would be interested. Thanks. Kevin |

Consider buying some Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout and hitting it with a little vanilla extract just to see. Dan --This space is STILL being left intentionally blank.-

I used to work at a brewery that made a pretty tasty vanilla stout. It wasn't oatmeal but I say give it a try. Start light on the vanilla, if you get too much it can get a little cloying. |
