George & Laurie had the kindness and knowledge to reply to my post on HBD regarding the wet cardboard off flavor all my brews exhibited. I was using the Papazian Pour the hot wort through the funnel and seive method. I was ready to quit homebrewing! All my beers had the wet cardboard flavor. If all homebrew tasted this way, forget it!
George & Laurie hipped me to HSA. I cooled the wort in the boil kettle before transfer, no more wet cardboard!!
I have progressed to all grain, and brew beer that tastes comparable to that from a brewpub.
