- June 7:2008 BUZZ Off Homebrew Competition, Iron Hill
Brewery & Restaurant West Chester, PA. Brewers Unlimited Zany Zymurgists
(BUZZ) will be holding the 2008 BUZZ Off home brew competition at Iron Hill
Brewery & Restaurant in West Chester, PA. We are looking for judges to
help us evaluate the fine entries that we receive from around the country.
Last year we had 270 entries and had 7 medal winners at the MCAB X competiton,
tying us for the most winners from any one competition. We are also giving
a portion of our proceeds to Philabundance (http://www.philabundance.org/),
a local organization committed to hunger relief in the Delaware Valley. We
certainly hope that you consider helping us on June 7th and helping the worthy
cause that we are sponsoring this year. We can't do it without you! Also,
Iron Hill is a gracious host and lunch will be provided. If you have any questions,

- May 13: Smuttynose Festival, Bar Great Harry, 7:00

Smuttynose will be taking over six of our draft lines. The beers: The

- May 14 : Malted Barley Appreciation Society Meeting, Mugs

will be Stone Brewing representative Mike Saklad. In addition, we should have
some excellent homebrews to taste, and Mugs usual great selection of beers.
- May 16-18: The 15th Tri-Annual 'Cask Head' Cask Ale Festival,
The Brazen Head, 228 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn, NY. Expect 25 to 30 casks
to be pouring over the weekend, 11 at a time. Many will be rare offerings
not normally seen in cask in NYC. Beer range is courtesy of Alex Hall (BA:
Imbiber) in conjunction with Lou Sones, the Brazen Head's manager. Beer will
come in 10oz and 16oz measures, there's no entry fee and you pay by the glass.Opening
hours: Noon to late daily. Beer TBD.
- May 17: Sixpoint Tasting, The Cherry Tree, 65
4th Avenue, Brooklyn, New York, 11217 (718) 399-1353. Starting at 2pm, we
will leave the Cherry Tree bar and tour the Six Point brewery to taste a variety
of beers, then back to the Cherry Tree for 2 hours of Six Point open bar.
Beers include:Sweet Action, Righteous Rye, Diesel Stout, Apollo wheat,
Bengali Tiger, Gorilla Warfare, Brownstone.
