The HBD.ORG Mission Statement
The HBD.ORG Vision, Mission, Purpose and Guiding Principles
Vision
World-wide excellence and recognition as the
preeminent resource for the international
home brewing community.
Mission
To provide free, quality educational material and
communications portals to home
brewers and beer enthusiasts in order to perpetuate the craft and
solidify the community it represents.
To accomplish this, we will serve,
maintain and further the development of the email-based Home Brew Digest;
we will provide homes for home
brewers' clubs, seek
out and preserve quality home brewing resources and information, and
provide communication portals, both email and web based, for community
discussions
at no compulsory expense to the user. E-mail communications lists will
also be provided to
other hobbies and organizations where such provision does not interfere
with our primary
mission.
Purpose
To provide educational material and
inter-communications to the world's
home brewing community.
Themes
Home brewers as a community.
Best home brewers' forum in existence.
Provide a repository of home brewing
information.
Improve the brewing knowledge base.
Provide persistent Internet homes to home brewing
organizations.
Provide a free Internet focal point to home brewers
worldwide.
The purpose of the HBD.ORG is to provide quality
information primarily regarding the amateur production of beer, but
including all aspects of brewing, for the purpose of education and
reference. Though the main focus is on malt beverages (beer), we present
discussions on homemade wine, mead, and cider, as well as other alcoholic
beverages resulting through fermentation.
HBD.ORG accomplishes its mission primarily through
the serving and maintenance of the emailed Home Brew Digest. HBD.ORG also
engages in the collection and preservation of brewing-related web pages,
the free hosting of home brew club web sites, serving of communications
for home brewing and related hobbiests and the general promotion of home
brewing on the internet.
The Home Brew Digest itself is a grassroots
discussion group for the subject of beer and brewing. It exists primarily
as an emailed digest consisting of questions, answers and information
submitted by its audience.
It is the hope of the Janitors and Steering Committee
of the Home Brew Digest that it will continue to be the premier source of
brewing information on the internet for many years to come. It is also our
hope that the HBD web site will become one of the primary jumping off
points for home brewers onto the web. But our greatest hope - the drive
that makes us put forward the effort - is that you will gain from your
exposure to the Home Brew Digest; gain in knowledge, comaraderie and
improved brewing techniques.
Cheers!
