Wallie Meisner's ideal glass...

Tulip-style, stemmed glass. Holds 12 oz bottle in a single, gentle pour. Careful! Not a lot of heading room!

Once the head settles, the glass concentrates bouquet well. The shape fits well in the palm, allowing you to warm the beer and experience the bouquet at various temperatures. Showcases the color and clarity of the beer - better be well brewed to slip by the taster using this glass!

Thanks, Wallie! An excellent addition to the gallery!

An "antique" offering...

...from Pabst. A ca. 1969 beer goblet!
Found in a garage sale, this glass is great for sniffing the bouquet! Pale beers look exceptionally well in it. I prefer this glass for lambics, belgian wits, and wheat beers. Ah, lambics! They excel in this glass! As do belgian specialties and Trappist ales (Orval! Yum!)...

Unfortunately, it's large bowl does not allow for significant warming via the hand. And it is a little short on heading space - though its spherical lip turns a firm head back nicely! Couldn't imagine Pabst being served in one of these...

An old favorite - the "pint" glass...

Also know as an "Andy Capp", it is a glass that requires no introduction. Technically more of a drinking glass than a tasting glass. What bar glass collection would be complete without around a zillion of these emblazoned with the emblems of their favorite brews and breweries?!? Personally, I can't get enough of these! And I haven't even built my bar yet...

Why the quotes around "pint", you might ask? Domestic versions of these will hold little more than 16 ounces! That's to the lip - no room for the foam we all love so well. Perfect for our 12 ounce beers, though!

(Special thanks to Scott Kaczorowski for correcting the errors of my previous volumetric ways...)
