The crock pot might be a good idea for a permanent wax pot but it would 
be a pain cleaning every time you use it.

Best pick up a pot of the appropriate size and dedicate it to wax.  It 
save a lot of hassle.

Heating on the stove is easy enough unless you are prone to taking naps 
at the wrong time.  I put a meat thermometer with an alarm in mine while 
heating up.
