| Here
is the mash tun viewed from directly overhead. The filter
screen and plumbing can be clearly seen. It connects with 1/2 inch copper tubing to the side wall rubber bung. I use a short piece of vinyl tubing to connect the copper tubing to a hose barb fitting which is inserted through the rubber bung and into the tubing. A tie wrap secures the vinyl tubing to the hose barb. The hose barb fitting has a 1/2 NPT female port on it's other end which connects to a ball valve for liquor output. Also visible is the dial thermometer probe and homemade bulkhead fitting. |

| This is the probe
protector. It threads into the female bulkhead fitting
threads shown in the view above. It is easily made from a piece of copper tubing with a few holes drilled for better circulation and it slides into a 1/2 inch NPT to copper fitting. No solder, just pushed in and can be opened for cleaning. |
