I've been waiting for a dried wheat yeast for ages and now there are two available (Safale has a new wheat yeast as well)....One question: does the Danstar yeast produce enough flavour and aroma to satisfy we Weizen fans? Looking forward to getting a chance to find out! Robin Return to table of contents

Date: Wed, 28 May 2008 14:35:41 -0400 (EDT) From: "Pat Babcock" <pbabcock at hbd.org> Subject: Fundraising Update Greetings, Beerlings! Take me to your lager... Thanks to all who have come forward to the aid of the HBD. In only 10 days, we've managed to raise over $1300 toward the goal of $4558 (first year of T1 service; alternatively, to goal of covering the current contract expense of $2925). It was great to see many of the same who come forward each time the HBD is in need, and it was also gratifying to see several new names as well. There remains only three days before the discounted T1 offer expires - and that's maybe for the best. I am researching other modes of faster local hosting but expect that I will have to bow to economic forces and "offshore" the HBD as many have suggested I do. Hopefully our volunteer codeslinger Anton will have rendered the HBD scripts portable by the end of this contract's term - T minus 15 months and counting... All the best! Date: Wed, 28 May 2008 14:05:33 -0600 From: pacman at edwardwadsworth.com Subject: Proper welding for valves First of, it's been a couple years since I last brewed. I now have a garage, and I'm excited to start again. Up to this point I've been using the weldless ballvalve couplings that use a high temp silicone gasket and s.s. washers to fasten my ballvalves onto my mashtun ans HLT and boil kettle. It's a bit of a hassle to pull everything apart and I'm concerned about the heat melting the gaskets (it's deformed them in the past) I'd like to get a sanitary weld, what do I need to know? Can anyone recommend someon in the Portland/Beaverton area? Thanks Return to table of contents
