Subject: HLT woes

Somehow I've had the devil of a job building an HLT out of an
aluminium stock pot and an electric heating element.  The problem is
that the element has a flat flange, while the pot has a curved side.
I've spent a lot of time looking for some way of sealing the join,
but I can't find anything appropriate.

Somehow this seems ridiculous: just about everybody must come up
against this issue.  But somehow the shops I've gone to don't build
HLTs.  How have other people solved this problem?

On Saturday, June 6th, Brewers Unlimited Zany Zymurgists (BUZZ) is holding
the 2009 BUZZ Off home brew competition at Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant
in West Chester, PA.  

The BUZZ Off is one of the top Philadelphia area homebrew competitions 
featuring some of the best beers, meads and ciders from around the country.
We pride ourselves in providing valuable feedback to all brewers who enter so
you can be assured that qualified judges will do a very thorough job
evaluating your entries. 

In addition we are proud to announce that a portion of our proceeds will be
donated to Philabundance (http://www.philabundance.org/), a local
organization committed to hunger relief in the Delaware Valley.
